MARIMEKKO
Kioski Kesakoju Maalis Patja Men's Cotton Knit Long Sleeve Top 70cm
The men’s fit Kesäkoju jumper is made of organic cotton in the Maalis and Patja patterns. The jumper has a double-ribbed O-neck, the small, embroidered Unikko flower in the front, and wide ribbing at the sleeve ends and hemline.
Our jumpers are sewn using the whole width of the fabric, and therefore their appearance may vary. Each item is unique.
Stripes have always been essential to the world of Marimekko patterns. Maalis (March) is Maija and Kristina Isola’s interpretation of an even, medium-sized stripe. Maija Isola created Patja (mattress), a stripe design with a dense rhythm, in 1979.
Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to faithfully capture the true essence of real flowers in print, which is why floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity.
